  9. 0) What's New in this version
  10.  
  11.    This version has been enhanced from 2.30; changes added are:
  12.  
  13.    1) Extra volume settings in CFG file for MIC 20dB Gain and 
  14.       Recording level. SNDINIT will read those info and setup audio 
  15.       device accordingly. 
  16.  
  17.    2) Bug fix for AD1845 CODEC - no Sound Blaster Mixer effect.
  18.  
  19.    3) Updated Windows utilities - Karaoke Control and Mixer Applet.

  22.    NOTE:
  23.    This version does not include third party Windows Application. 
  24.    Therefore, DISK #2 should be ignored. Copy contents under \disk1 
  25.    to a single diskette and start installation.

  27. 1) Introduction
  28.  
  29.    This package contains the above version of Software release for 
  30.    OPTi 82C929 Audio Device. This software contains a full fledge 
  31.    INSTALLER plus Testing and Configuration program all contained 
  32.    within a Windows Look-a-Like GUI.
  33.  
  34.    What the INSTALLER will do for you:
  35.    a) Gather installation info. from you as to which drive and directory
  36.       this software should be installed.
  37.    b) Check available memory and disk space (warns if not sufficient).
  38.    c) Gather and detect correct Windows directory.
  39.    d) Copies files to your hard disk.
  40.    e) Prompts you if you have a CD-ROM attached to your MAD16 Pro.
  41.       If Yes: - Asks you for the CD-ROM type you have.
  42.               - Assigns the correct CD-ROM driver for your drive.
  43.           - Checks and installs correct MSCDEX.EXE to work with your
  44.             drive depending on DOS version.
  45.    f) Shows Configuration and Test panel for you to setup and test your
  46.       Sound Card. You may perform 8-bit, 16-bit, and FM Synthesis test.
  47.       You may also change your volume settings.
  48.    g) After the above, INSTALLER will update your system files and give
  49.       you an option to reboot your system.

  51.    What the Testing and Configuration (SNDINIT.EXE) will do for you:
  52.    a) Allow you to test and/or configure/reconfigure your
  53.       - existing hardware settings;
  54.       - existing CD-ROM settings in which CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT will
  55.         be updated and you will be prompted to reboot your system.
  56.       - and perform sound tests and volume changes.

  91. 3) How to create Install Diskettes from 929V231D.ZIP
  92.  
  93.    . unZIP the 929V231D.ZIP file into a temp. dir in hard Drive
  94.        use: pkunzip -d 929V231D.zip to unzip
  95.    . take out README.1st and PKZIP.exe
  96.    . copy all the files in subdir 'DISK1' and 'DISK2' into 2 
  97.      diskettes to mark as "1 of 2" and " 2 of 2"
  98.    . use them as INSTALL diskettes

  100.    To Run the INSTALLER

  102.    . insert the #1 diskette into a: or b: drive
  103.    . type a:\INSTALL or b:\INSTALL
